Mission Statement

Founded August 31, 1918, Local #18 Missouri's mission is to supply our Signatory Contractors with the finest craftsmen in the Tile, Marble, Mosaic, and Terrazzo trades. Through our affiliation with the Bricklayers International Union (Founded 1865) and the AFL-CIO (Founded 1955), our goal is to improve our members' quality of life, on and off the job, through access to good paying jobs, quality benefits, safe working conditions and solidarity among members. With more than a century of protecting the rights of our workers, the BAC is the oldest continuous union in North America.

We need the help of all of our members to obtain our goals. We encourage all of our members to attend all union meetings, held the second Wednesday of every month at 5:00 PM at the Union Hall. We want to hear your opinions, suggestions, and concerns. Collaboration is the key to our future and we must work together to keep our union strong and united. Only with your help can we obtain our goals which are:

  1. To organize all persons working within our jurisdiction for their mutual benefit, aid, and protection.
  2. To promote good wages, health and retirement benefits, decent hours and safe working conditions for all such workers.
  3. To promote, foster, and develop programs to increase employment opportunities for such workers.
  4. To secure recognition by employees and the public of the right to engage in collective bargaining.
  5. To promote, foster and develop apprentice programs, training programs, and other means to advance skills, efficiency, and working knowledge of its members.
  6. To promote, foster, and develop peace and harmonious relations between employers and employees, as well as community organizations and other labor movement organizations.
  7. To promote, foster and develop the trade jurisdiction of this Local and the International.
  8. To engage in legal activities appropriate for the defense and advancement of the interests of the Local and its members.
  9. To fulfill and require observance of this Local's collective bargaining agreement.
  10. To take any actions necessary to protect and promote the welfare and interest of this Local and its members.
