The St. Louis Tile, Marble, and Terrazzo Joint Apprentice Committee (JAC) is a labor management organization serving unionized tile, marble, & terrazzo trade workers and their employing contractors in the Greater St. Louis region. The JAC works for the advancement of the industry through apprenticeship and training, research and development, and labor management relations. With training that meets or exceeds the expectations of each apprentice, journeyperson, and employer, the program will supply signatory contractors with a quality oriented, safety conscious, productive, and drug free workforce.

JAC Vision
  • To ensure that each Apprentice, upon graduation, has attained the skill level required to work productively as a journeyperson.
  • To meet workforce demands of contractors by supplying them with skilled workers.
  • To nurture and encourage an attitude of craft pride and a positive work ethic.
  • To design training components that will allow apprentices to understand and master intended skills.
  • To develop diversified curriculum that reflects an old and honored profession and strives to be in the forefront and a training leader.

Applications

Local #18, Missouri accepts applications for apprenticeship on the first and third Wednesdays of every month between the hours of 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM provided the Union's unemployment rate is below 5%.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Applicant must fill out a Local #18 application and take the entrance exam and pass with a grade of 75% or higher. (1 hour time limit).
  2. Applicant must be at least 18 years of age.
  3. Applicant must be a High School graduate or have completed the requirements for a GED or equivalency certificate. If the applicant does not have either, he/she will be highly encouraged to complete the GED during his/her apprenticeship.
  4. Applicant must be capable of performing the work of the trade.
  5. Applicant will be required to complete the Bricklayers International Union Application.
  6. Applicant will be required to take and pass a drug test within 48 hours of reciept of a "Letter Of Intent To Hire" from the applicants first employer to the Local #18 Office Of Apprenticeship. Failure to pass the drug test, or failure to take the drug test within 48 hours will result in non-acceptance into the Local #18 Apprentice Program.
